About me as a breeder

My name is Guido Schaefer. I live in the mid-west of Germany, near Koblenz. I have owned Siberian Huskies since I was 15 and have been breeding this breed for 21 years now. I started my breeding with a bitch from Belgium (Chefornak's Ronja) and a bitch from Canada (Arcticlight's Mystery Eyes) that went back to the Arcticlight and Karnovanda breeding lines. In 1997 I bought another bitch from the USA kennel (Kristari's White Pepper). These 3 bitches form the basis of my breeding. In 1995 I bred my first litter with the bitch Chefornak's Ronja under the FCI-protected kennel Hightowers. In the past 15 years I have succeeded in breeding Siberian Huskies that are extremely typey, strong in character and healthy at the same time.

From the beginning it has been my passion to successfully participate in international exhibitions with the dogs I bred myself.

As a special highlight, I still like to remember my 2-week tour of Canada in 2001 with my most successful bitch Hightowers Fire and Ice - called Frosty - who within a few days became Canadian Champion and at the end of the trip in Toronto at the Kennel Club Show as Best of Breed (BOB) Siberian.

Frosty made my breeding internationally known. In 2002 she won the title “World Winner” in Amsterdam. She looks back on 6 Best in Show wins in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. These were shows of more than 3000 dogs of all breeds, which Frosty won as Best in Show. The males Hightower's Chattanooga and Hightower's Here I am were also able to assert themselves 3 times in the Best in Show competition in Germany and the Netherlands against more than 3000 competitors as the most beautiful dog in the entire exhibition.

From the beginning I was not only fascinated by exhibiting myself. It was my wish to start the judge training for evaluating pedigree dogs.

At the age of 26 it was time. As one of the youngest special breed judge candidates within the VDH, I was admitted to the training of 24 Nordic breeds.

Today I am a special breed judge for more than 40 breeds, including those from FCI groups 1, 5 and 10. I am also licensed to judge the entire FCI groups 2, 5, 8 and 10.

Within the German Club for Nordic Dogs e. V., the oldest association for Nordic breeds, which is affiliated with the Association for German Dogs (VDH), I have always volunteered in various offices. For several years I have been the chairman of the German Club for Nordic Dogs e. V
